A new study found supplementing with an extract of Rhodiola rosea may improve mood in individuals with mild anxiety.
81 students with mild anxiety participated in this study which lasted 14 days. The participants were assigned to received 200 mg of Rhodiola rosea twice a day or no treatment. A significant reduction in anxiety and stress were self reported by the individuals supplementing with the herb. Secondarily reductions in depression, confusion and anger were also seen in the supplementation group.
Due to the limitations of this study (lack of placebo control, subjective self reports vs more objective assessment tools) further studies are needed.
