In another double blind, placebo-controlled randomized human study, Garcinia extract supplemented by itself or in combination with 4 mg of niacin-bound chromium and 400 mg/day of a standardized Gymnema Sylvestre extract, reductions in BMI (Body Mass Index), a gross measure of obesity, decreased by 5-6% in the group supplementing with either the Garcinia extract alone and in the combination groups. Food intakes were also significantly reduced in both groups.
Gymnema Sylvestre:
This woody climbing plant is native to India and contains gymnemic acids in addition to other plant constituents that can help reduce blood sugar highs and lows by priming the body’s glucose uptake and utilization mechanisms. This can be a major factor in controlling body weight.
