According to a recent study published in Arthritis & Rheumatism, researchers found Ginger supplementation could provide effective treatment for arthritis.
250 people with osteoarthritis, the most common form of arthritis participated in this study. All the participants experienced moderate to severe arthritis pain. Participants received a 255 mg dose of Ginger or a placebo twice daily. The study lasted 6 weeks.
About 2/3 of the participants receiving the Ginger supplement reported some form of pain relief when compared with the placebo group. Researchers compared these results to trials for conventional pain killing drugs.
Osteoarthritis is the most common form of joint disease and is usually considered to be a result of wear and tear of the joints which causes damage to the surface of the joint and pain when moving the joint.
Further studies are warranted.
