A recent study has found that taking a daily prenatal multiple vitamin during pregnancy may reduce the risk of losing the baby by 55%. This risk reduction increased to 79% when a prenatal Multiple Vitamin was taken consistently during early pregnancy.
Over 300 couples were recruited to participate in this study. Ages of the participants ranged from between 18 and 40. Couples were active in the study both while they were trying to conceive and then for seven weeks after conception. The incidence of pregnancy loss was 28%. Age was a significant risk factor, the greatest risk occurring in women over the age of 35. Caffeine consumption also posed a risk for pregnancy loss especially when over two beverages containing caffeine were consumed daily.
Researchers concluded that a couples’ lifestyle had an impact on the risk of pregnancy loss both during preconception and early after conception.
Further studies are needed.
